Why Self-Care Matters
You can't take care of others if you're not taking care of yourself. Self-care isn't selfish—it's necessary. When you're well-rested, fed, and emotionally healthy, you're a better parent.
Start Small
Self-care doesn't have to be elaborate. It can be 10 minutes of quiet time, a shower, a walk, or calling a friend. Start with small, achievable self-care activities and build from there.
Ask for Help
Part of self-care is asking for help when you need it. Whether it's childcare so you can have time alone, or emotional support from friends, asking for help is a form of self-care.
Model Self-Care
When you practice self-care, you're modeling healthy behavior for your children. They learn that taking care of yourself is important. This is a valuable lesson that will serve them throughout life.
